With a stroke of luck I now get off work 40 minutes earlier 3 days a week and have finally made it to the only BJJ place in this city.
I went last night and got a few rolls in. There were two other foreigners there who were just leaving and four Koreans training. The teacher is a purple belt, I rolled with him twice and am sad to say he tapped me with my own move... I blame it on the lack of exercise and weekends on the bars.
I'm going back again tonight and will hopefully meet some new people. The foreigners said there is another foreigner who trains there and is the same belt level as me, which makes only him and the Korean as my equal or superior. The Koreans don't mess around, though, and the white belts roll really well. It's looking like I'll be getting back in shape and into my groove pretty quick! I'm very happy to have finally gotten back on the mat, and the foreigners were also telling me they go and compete every few months so hopefully I will be able to represent us back home! I'll keep everyone posted and get some videos up if I get to a tournament.
